AVSG URGENT CARE SERVICES
With AVSG’s urgent care services, you have an emergency room alternative when your primary care veterinarian is unavailable. We’re just like an urgent care center for humans, except we offer same-day treatment of illnesses and injuries in dogs and cats. Patients with the most urgent conditions are seen first.
Our veterinarians and clinical team have chosen to focus their career on emergency medicine. Their training, experience, and compassion have earned the trust of our community’s primary care veterinarians and pet parents alike.
What’s more, through collaborative relationships with the board-certified specialists in our building, we’re able to give your pet onsite access to additional expertise in surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, and dermatology, if needed. It’s a high level of advanced care, all in one convenient location.
While no appointment is necessary for urgent care, we ask that you call us before you come over so we can prepare for your visit and let you know what kind of wait time to expect.
When to seek urgent care for your pet
If your pet is injured, involved in an accident, or you notice any of the following signs or symptoms, please call us immediately at 949.653.9300.
It’s important to seek immediate care if your pet is experiencing:
Allergic reactions
Behavior changes
Bite wounds
Bleeding
Breathing difficulties
Broken bones
Coughing
Choking
Cuts or lacerations
Diarrhea
Eye injury
Frostbite
Heat stroke
Lethargy/collapse
Loss of consciousness
Not eating or drinking for more than 24 hours
Pain (excessive)
Poison/toxin ingestion
Profound weakness
Rear-leg paralysis (sudden onset)
Seizures
Snakebite
Swollen abdomen
Straining to urinate or defecate
Trauma
Vomiting (multiple times in one day or for more than one day)
We ask that you always call us before you visit so we can be prepared for your visit and let you know what kind of wait time to expect. Sometimes, if our caseload is exceptionally high, we may recommend that you take your pet to an emergency veterinary hospital to ensure the timeliest care. So please, do call us before coming in.
